Cutlery doesn't break easily
Cutlery (spoons, forks, knives, etc.) are essential tools that are found in almost every home. I have a lot of cutlery in my house too. There are more than three times as many cutlery pieces as there are people in my family.
I like lumps of metal for some reason. I get a little excited when I go to the screw section of a home improvement store. People sometimes say to me, "Are you a crow?" lol That's why I'm attracted to stainless steel cutlery. But they don't break easily, so I just keep collecting more and more.
Whether it's 100 yen or 1000 yen, Cutlery is something that can be used for a long time .
The cheaper it is, the better the cost performance, and the more expensive it is, the greater the joy of using it. Which would you prioritize?
There are so many stylish cutlery items that it's hard to choose
If you go to an interior design exhibition, you will definitely see cutlery on display. Although the purpose is the same, each brand has its own unique design and materials, and each brand is stylish and has its own unique style. It's fun to look at, but when you try to choose something to use at home, it's difficult to narrow down your choices.
Our house is already saturated with cutlery, so it's not that I particularly need it, but I feel like my choices up until now have been based on other people's opinions and trends ... After a long time, I'm starting to think that maybe it's not really my preference.
I searched seriously for the next cutlery I would choose, one that would last me the rest of my life.
However, because I work as a buyer, I have seen so much cutlery that I didn't fall in love at first sight with it, so I decided to forget about it for a while.
The abundance of cutlery in our home
One day, I was in a cafe and when I saw a small fork that came with a cake, I thought " oh!? ". And it had a silhouette I'd seen before. It was cutlery made in Tsubame City, which I had been curious about in the catalog. When I looked it up, I found out they also had matte versions!
Actually, next time I thought I would like a matte finish rather than a mirror finish. The smooth feel and refined shine are very elegant.
No matter how shiny a new item you buy, it will get scratched after a few months, and it takes years (or maybe even decades) for it to have a vintage look, so I want to use it with a worn-in feel from the very start.
I bought one spoon mat and one fork mat to try out. They were just the right weight and fit. "This is it. This is it!"
So, the cutlery I decided on to use for the rest of my life was Bolero Mat, made in Tsubame, Niigata Prefecture .
It's super simple, but the thin neck, the thickness and roundness of the handle, and the matte texture are all really nice. Above all, it has a beautiful shape.
I hope this will be helpful for anyone who is thinking of replacing their cutlery.
